Fairview Park was filled with summer fun on Thursday, August 2nd for the culminating ice cream social event. Dr. U. R. Awesome was there blowing amazing bubbles, artist Julie Van Wagenen led the group in cyanotype printing to create little critters, and Mason's scooped free ice cream out of their mobile cart.
For the final Art in the Park at Herman Park this summer, artist Shelly Svonavec from the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning led the families at Herman Park through a multi-step project of paint scraping, shape cutting and flower making. Thank you to Councilman Matt Zone, Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization, and the Char and Chuck Fowler Foundation for their support.

CPT’s celebrated Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is Cleveland’s longest-running arts and job training program for urban teens. STEP celebrates its 24th year with the latest original play, After the Shadow, created and performed by the 2018 STEP cast and tech ensemble, on tour to Cleveland city parks from July 31 – August 10. ABOUT THE SHOW After the Shadow follows three sisters as they battle a fearsome monster in the belly of a labyrinth, challenge a heinous queen, and encounter a magical woman, giver and taker of life. The sisters must confront death to discover hidden sides of themselves. Inspired by traditional stories of Greece, Sumer, and Russia, After the Shadow is a moving tale with song, dance, and vibrant performances. Uncover trust and love in the face of fear and hate as Cleveland youth celebrate the light, even within the darkness. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy free theatre in the park!
